A few years ago we shared the MTU Archive shot of cadets marching past Quincy Mine in 1918. This past week Edie and I visited some of those current day cadets - both Air Force and Army - for their ROTC awards ceremonies. The second pair of pictures above shows a couple of muscular Air Force cadets hoisting her up the stairs to the gymnasium level on Tuesday, and Edie presenting the award to cadet Kelly Rouse in the Army program on Thursday. Edie is the Defense Chairman of her chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. The recent loss of her left leg has not stopped her from continuing her support for these programs (with a little help from our friends).
For those aware of our current situation, we are still living in a loft cabin at Gitche Gumee while home repairs are being done, to restore the plumbing. (It had been damaged over the winter while we were away.) We are also using this as an opportunity to modify the main floor with a handicapped bathroom and shower. Hopefully by summer, life will get back to normal for us, a journey that began last June... when there was still ice on Keweenaw Bay.
Congratulations to all of the cadets at MTU, especially those receiving their commision to the next level of their service. Hard to believe another school year will soon be history!
Have a good week :o)

So great to see Edie looking so good and so happy. You guys have been through so much and have come through all of it together. So happy you guys are having the chance to redo your house to make things more accessible for Edie.
Also congrats to those cadets. They make America proud.
