The Auroras were at it again and so was Jeremy Rowe, out in the dark capturing the lights making the night much brighter. He actually said this past week was phenomenal for photographing the Northern Lights and I just love all the different foregrounds he captured being lit up along with the skies.

I don't know if you noticed the U.P. shaped ice chunk in the first photo, but Jeremy wondered what the chances were that he'd be out there snapping shots of the night lights and there would be that familiar shaped ice in the scene, too. I guess along with the colorful sky, it's just pointing out that this place really is someplace special.

Each and every one of these photos here today has such different hues, you never tire of looking at them over and over again. But I think my favorite is the last one, where Jeremy set up near the Hut, by the mining buildings of Centennial #6, so that the lights framed the darkened shape of the shaft house still standing there.

If you haven't had your fill yet, click on over to Jeremy's Keweenaw Night Sky page and you'll see the rest of the shots he captured of the magical skies.

These photos are amazing! I have heard reports the Northern Lights could be seen here in Iowa.

Beautiful! If I could just stay awake late enough
at night to see these things, I may actually get
some pictures. Thank goodness for my pasty fix!

Hi
I envy those of you who got to see the noirthern lights.

There was a debate at work as to whether the addtional chances to see the northern lights in the UP compensated for the longer winters (snow on the ground). Personally, I think it does....but then, I haven't tred living in through a UP winter.

Jeremy Rowe is the night sky champion. I have tried to
capture the Northern lights on camera and have failed.
I so love the pics today!
