We have a newcomer to welcome to the Pasty Cam and to our Pasty Guest Gallery today, Jeff Stricker. He gives us a look at what the ice and snow are doing on the Portage Canal, Mt. Ripley Ski Hill, around the Lift Bridge and across the way in Houghton, too.
You can see that the ice has melted closer to and around the Lift Bridge, but further down the canal both ways, it's still hanging on. Speaking of hanging on…there is also still snow on Mt. Ripley, but not enough for skiing anymore.
Jeff's last photo was taken from near the Ramada, looking over towards Houghton and the Bluffs up on the hill. Everything is melting around there, too, exposing bare ground. HOORAY!
With the warmer temperatures over the weekend and those predicted for the coming week, we should start seeing more open water and bare ground, versus the ice and snow piles we've been viewing for the past five months. Welcome Spring!

The Portage was opened up enough to take a plunge yesterday! Plenty of Tech students, including myself, took a dip in the Portage.

Nice pics of the progress of the receding of winter. I finally saw a robin so now I am listening for the sound of geese heading North.
