The sun is warmer, but the temps have still been chilly here in the Keweenaw, so things are beginning to thaw, but slow going... especially with 4" of new snow here in the Keweenaw overnight. Melanie Hakala Rosee was up at the mouth of Eagle River and found a plethora of ice crystals there, shining like valuable diamonds in the sun.
Some of the jewels were still hanging onto bits of fall, with darkened leaves frozen to the chunks; several were textured and bumpy, while others were smooth and shiny. Truly a glinting spectacle of winter turning into spring right there on Lake Superior's shoreline.

Good pictures, great glitter. In my eyes one of the most pleasing sights in nature is the sight of ice melting.

Very nice photos Melanie. The last photo looks as if the family of ice-cycles are gathering at their last conference, chatting about how grand winter was. Bring on the green vegetation.
