Have you ever had to be away from home for an extended period? That's how it has been for Edie and me this winter, away from 'Crystal Dune' as we call it (in Eagle River), where we have been blessed to have a panoramic view of Lake Superior for about the last 27 years. Since January she has been a resident/patient at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, recuperating from surgery. A nice view of Little Traverse Bay from her window on the rehab side of the campus, but it's Lake Michigan, when we would prefer seeing Lake Superior out there. So we clicked over to see the Sunset Bay campground cam. That's more like our view at home. The second shot is from a basic web cam in our home, letting us know if the furnace is still working. It also confirms that the remote relay via Brockway Mountain is still chugging along. And you can actually see the other end of Brockway with Sharon Smith's web cam.
If I had a little more time I could share some stories about our adventures on Brockway and with the Sunset Bay Cam. In fact, it just occurred to me that I was the last person to snowshoe out to the campground and do some minor repairs on the webcam a few months ago. So if there is a photographer to be listed for a web cam, my hands were the last to touch it.
As you can see, we sure miss the U.P. But we stay in touch with the streaming radio stations as well, like WMPL and Mix93. Congratulations are in order for the girl's basketball teams at Calumet and St. Ignace, as they won the Class C and Class D state titles this weekend. Wish we could have also heard the Huskies were coming home with the Broadmore trophy, but in the final period last night MTU was out-gunned by Minnesota State. Nice job on the play-by-play from both stations, which we heard on Pasty.NET.
Have a good week :o)

Thanks, Charlie. Have been thinking about you and Edie as well. I pray that she'll soon be able to go home and you guys will again have your gorgeous view of Lake Superior. Though, Lake Michigan is nothing to sneeze at either.

Beautiful view, and I like the Norman Rockwell illustration on the thermometer.
