When Brenda Leigh heard through the grapevine that Tahquamenon Falls was just about frozen over, she headed that way to see for herself. Today's first three photos are what she found. Not quite, but almost completely frozen, just a few feet open in the middle. It looks like it is still flowing quite well in that spot, too. I find it amazing that the rest of it was able to freeze with the amount of water that rushes over per minute.

Meanwhile, on the shores of Lake Superior in the Brimley area, things are quite frozen there as well. Brenda and her hubby Jim demonstrate the extent of the ice while they were out snowshoeing. Those are some pretty big piles of ice pushed up on shore and then covered with some recent snow. I like the way the blue ice is just peeking out in places. We really do live in a Winter Wonderland here in the U.P.

I remember coming home from Tech spring 2014. I
have never seen anything so full, powerful, and
loud in my life. It is truly something amazing!

Frozen U.P. beauty.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent pix! You're a lucky couple…keep on, keep’n on.

Beautiful and unique photos! Thanks Brenda and Jim ~ hope you had a nice cup of hot chocolate after that trek! ;-9

Great photos of the ice and falls. The Tahquamenon falls does a great job of staying beautiful even in the frigid clutches of Old Man Winter. Looks like Cream Soda to me. Just think, in only three months most of that ice will be gone:)

The Falls look beautiful anytime of the year!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 - 06:10 pm:

Dylan is so sweet, Janie! Looks like he's got a comfy seat there.;)

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 - 07:38 pm:

JT...cute pic of Dylan. I'm not up on the latest baby seat technology, so what's with the buttons at the bottom? It looks like he's ready to be beamed-up:-)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 - 08:15 pm:

That is Dylan's Snug A Monkey Bouncer Bob & I got him. The push buttons select either music or nature sounds, a timer, a on or off rocking motion, and volume control. He gets a bit upset when he has to get out of it. Wouldn't mind having one myself.

Spectacular pics! I have never been to the falls in
the winter.

By Brenda Leigh (Brownmoose) on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 - 05:52 am:

Thanks to each and everyone of you for the nice
comments. We love nature and I love to go in search
of her beauty with my camera. So please know that all
of you do have a positive affect on me to do so. I
love Duane P's comment about the cream soda. However
when one is there in that cold (-10) you think of hot
chocolate or coffee like Shirley said. A big thank
you to Mary for her great stories and Charlie for
keeping things going for all these years. We are
keeping Edie and also you Charlie in our thoughts and
prayers.

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 - 09:38 am:

Thanks, Brenda. We love your shots of the falls. You have been a major contributor to these 'daily glimpses of life in the U.P.' for years now, and we really appreciate the time and effort.

Thanks also for your prayers on our behalf. The Pasty Cam family has been so thoughtful and caring as Edie has faced her challenges in recent days. Today I hope to answer more of the emails folks have been sending our way. We occasionally have Facebook updates on her page, and I'll make it a point to post the public link here when we do the next one.
