Chris Gariepy, his wife Jessica and their boys have been doing some snowshoeing around their property lately. It sure looks like a great way to spend some quality family time, while breathing in fresh air and getting exercise at the same time. Not to mention it tires out the youngsters, too.

I love the shots with the tracks in the snow, especially the last one with the sun going down, shading the tracks, yet brightening the snow surrounding them

In the picture of their boys, note that the oldest has walking poles and the youngest does not. For years I snowshoed without poles and then saw someone else using them one day, so decided to try it with my ski poles and have been using them ever since.

Let's take a poll (no pun intended): Yes - if you love them... No - if you don't.

Nice pictures. I love to snowshoe around our property. I've tried them but no, I don't use poles.

Thanks for sharing your family-outing fun, Chris.

Snowshoeing is a great family outing. It is something I have never done. Never had snowshoes around the house when I was growing up. Had skis but no snowshoes. Looks like you guys had a fun time, nice pics.

Nice pictures. Did some snow shoeing while at da tech in the 60's,
it was fun, but cross country skiing is better.

Poles... it depends. When snowshoeing at Swedetown, I've found that the poles get in my way so I leave them behind. When snowshoeing downstate, I always use poles.
