Dear Miss Sullivan,
The kids you knew in the Ahmeek School as the "PENPRASE KIDS" ( Deutzia, Renee, and the twins: Betty and Billy) wish you a HAPPY 100th BIRTHDAY!!!!! We wish we could be there to help you celebrate!!!! Personally, I'm glad I won't be there when this E-mail arrives because I'm sure you would make me diagram the sentences, conjugate the verbs, and correctly write any misspelled words 50 times. Thank-you for teaching us so well. Again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Hello Kate Sullivan!
Aunt Isabel came to visit me in my dreams last night. She asked if I had forgotten to tend to a certain birthday detail. I know you received many wonderful notes and letters because Mr. Hopper put some of them on the internet for us to read. I hope you will enjoy re-reading all of them many times. Earlier this year, I had genealogy correspondence with a Mr. Pat Sullivan. I suggested he contact Mr. Hopper for permission to write to you. Aunt Isabel kept many newspaper clipping about her friends and their families. I have all of those items now because the Boorman family has crowned me the Family Historian. Mom (Betty Boorman) and Barb Williams (my younger sister) sent their notes in a timely fashion. Let me fill you in on the rest of the Boormans. My Dad, Al, is with Aunt Isabel, in heaven. He passed in 1984. Chuck and most of his family live in Henderson/Las Vegas Nevada area. He has two little girls who are 8 and 3. His sons are 30, 28, and 21. He will be a grandpa in February, and his hair is whiter than mine! In fact, as the oldest I have the darkest hair. Guess I lead a stress free life in Idaho. And, I rub it in when I'm with the rest of my siblings. Rod and his wife, Lowene, live in Cary IL. They have 2 daughters who are 14 and 9. If you see Rod, you will think you are looking at Al Boorman. Ann, the baby, and her hubby, Tim Gasperich live on Lake Shore Road. She is the one who is in charge of getting 911 working in Houghton County. I work at Idaho State University where I assist students with their school loan repayment. I have been alone for the past 9 years. And, I am studying, again, to qualify for a Masters Degree in Social Work. My specialty choice is Senior Citizens. I think I took after Aunt Isabel in all parts of my life. She was my model. But then, all of us Boorman "kids" had the influence of the Sullivan and McLain Girls tossed into the mix. We couldn't help but "turn out" okay! Enjoy your friends at Still Water. I am waiting for my pasty delivery. I ordered them so I could treat my employees to a Calumet specialty. I'm making coleslaw to go with them as well as the Old English Current Cookies. They are going to get Cousin Jennied and Jacked this week. One of the ladies will be 60 that day. I don't think there will be room for birthday cake! Best Wishes and a Big Hug! Lizbeth (Boorman) Benson |
Happy Birthday from the land of guacamole!
A Yooper lost in Texas sending you sincere wishes for your new year! Lynda Trafton |
As a fan of Pasty Central, I received news that you
have turned 100!
I just wanted to tell you HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I recently ordered some pasties from Pasty Central for my dad, who is half Finnish and half Norwegian. They weren't quite the same as the pasties that his mother used to make, but they sure hit the spot! My best wishes are coming your way for a wonderful birthday and many more to come! Dear Ms. Sullivan,
A century of good wishes on your birthday -- or shortly thereafter. Happy Birthday! A friend in Detroit,
|
Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday! You have
reached one hundred years -- and have not missed a step if you are "hip"
enough to have an e-mail address. How nice is it to be able to communicate
with you this way.
I am Joan MacDonald Scott, daughter of Agnes (Murphy) and Bob MacDonald -- in case my name does not ring a bell. We spent four happy years in the Detroit area -- with Helen MacDonald Smith and Margaret Moore as our constant companions. They were kind enough to come with us to school events, ballet recitals and all kinds of things in which our kids were involved. Those were terrific days. I hear from Margaret each Christmas and she keeps me fully up to date with the stories of her girls and their children. She has a happy time with them and they are very lucky to have her. And Isabel MacDonald always stopped over in Detroit and happily we got to see her on her way to and from Florida with Helen and Elizabeth. This morning I called Dorothy Murphy McManus to tell her about your birthday and she promised she would send you a card and a note. And then I called Frank Murphy's wife, Frankie, to tell her about your good news and your happy birthday. I did order pasties one time and enjoyed them thoroughly. I'm planning to order some more right after Christmas. We are living in Park City, Utah, right outside of Salt Lake City. My husband commutes into Salt Lake -- only 30 minutes -- each day. We've been here nearly five years but think that we might be leaving next year to go back to our home in Pennsylvania. We've had quite enough of the mountains and are looking forward to getting back to the East Coast. Our eldest son, Bucky, was married several years ago and our youngest, Ann, will be married in October. Tom is happily unattached, as he calls it, and enjoying living in our home (and taking care of it for us) in Pennsylvania. I want to wish you a very happy birthday "season" and hope that you hear from all of your friends. Please say hello to Margaret for me. How nice it was to see the e-mail from pasty central telling us all about your birthday. I loved the picture of you that they have on their web page -- very nice to be able to see you. I promise to write more soon -- but for now I send you all of our love. Joan |
