A Soldier’s Heart

Marquette artist, Steve Wahlstrom through his paintings, tells his personal experience as a Viet Nam veteran in his exhibit, A Soldier’s Heart. The exhibit will include Heroes, a portrait series honoring his comrades with respect and compassion. Wahlstrom, who suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, explains that he ran out of words to describe what he was going through and started painting a year and a half ago. He found through creative expression a gratifying path to healing for himself, and by exhibiting his work a way for others to heal as well. The Community Arts Center is honored to present this thought provoking exhibit. Please join us for a reception and gallery talk Thursday, January 7 from 6-8pm.

Welcome to Copper Country Community Arts Center

The Copper Country Community Arts Council (CCCAC) (established in 1972) and the Copper Country Community Arts Center (CAC) (established in 1992) serves Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga, and Ontonagon counties and works in collaboration with over 40 institutions, organizations, and agencies to meet its mission.

The CAC houses the Artists' Market Sales Gallery and represents close to 200 local and regional artists. The Kerredge Gallery has month long exhibitions featuring visiting artists, local artists, and group and theme oriented shows.

Please click here to visit our new blog and learn about our Green Building Speaker Series.

The Center offers art classes for people of all ages year around. Arts Center programs are designed not only to make art available to people but to get people involved in the creative process.

The second floor ballroom is available for dances, open mic coffeehouses, community concerts, and slide presentations.

The CCCAC with the Community Arts Center strives to integrate the arts into the fabric of everyday life and grow artists and arts appreciators through exposure to new and challenging artistic opportunities.
