What a heavenly week here in the U.P.! A couple of nights ago I stepped out and looked up to see a burst of Northern Lights which looked like angels fluttering straight above our heads here in the Keweenaw. Several evenings we have been treated to the circle of planets, five of them around the crescent moon. And the sunsets and sunrises have been spectacular.

The shots above were taken by Kelly Wenberg, but at almost the identical time I received the one below from Kathy Beattie. What a colorful week it has been! But now I have a problem... with so many delightful pictures, how do I choose the Wallpaper of the Week?

Another view
I took this picture (Thursday) morning before the rain came. The colors were great and I was hoping that my digital would catch it just right. Still experimenting with the camera and learning lots and have lots yet to learn. Why does the sunrise look better without the leaves on the trees? I can hardly wait for everything to turn green. If this warm weather keeps up, then the yard will need to be cut real soon.

Love your site and have told so many people to check it out. Keep up the good work!!

They're all keepers, but my WOW vote would be Dan Urbanski's misty moon at Victoria. Ahhh...

Oh Danny boy

Kathy's sunset through the trees sure would make a great WOW too, though. Maybe a Double-WOW followed by an oooh and ahhh this week?

Yes, Charlie, I've been watching Mars, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter and the cresent moon. Haven't been able to see Mercury, though. Too many trees across the road from me. I have a small Newtonian reflector but my eyes ain't what they used to be. And the Northern Lights are beautimous!!!..Hey, Kathy, I used to live in Paavola when I was a kid. Still go back and drive through every time I'm up that way. Going to the cemetaries in Hancock and Calumet soon.

What great shots from home. I guess I'll just have to spend the money to come and enjoy some fresh air for a while.Funny how the only road rage in the morning drive to work is Ernie pulling out in front of you in Hubble and doing 15 miles per hour. Down here you have to go out of your way to get a little nature. Bundle up, we're in for a cold snap! Thats right, put your patio furniture back in the shed.We all know that the true spring does not come around until the Carnival.
