Thomas Simpson has provided us with some nice shots of life in the U.P., mainly from the eastern end of the Peninsula. I'm not sure where this one was taken, but it is typical of the slushy, spring-like conditions we're seeing all across the region.

He did mention it was a Red Wings game on TV while waiting for the big one to nibble. Hockey and fishing... who could ask for more?

Brrr! Just looking at those slushy foot prints on the ice makes me nervous! Otherwise, nice pics!

is the ice safe enough..bay de noc in gladstone has about 8 inches of ice,so they say.its like a little town out there now..nr.

The ice was about 4 inches thick and it was taken on the same lake as the sunset picture. Somewhere near Trout Lake is all I can say!

Please, someone help me here! My husband thinks this photo is a computer enhancement...like the chair? I assured him ,the best photographers are in the U.P. And scenes like these are why they are there!!

Katherine and Mr. D,

I can assure you the objects in this photo are real. I must confess to adjusting the brightness just a bit before uploading it, because Thomas took the shot in low light, which speaks well of his steady hand (I think mine would have been shivering).

The camouflage TV stand and the blue chair appear a bit saturated, perhaps due to the brightening. But nothing in this picture is superimposed.

Tom has many pictures on pasty.com and I don't think I have seen any that have been "fixed". The sunset is beautiful!

Many appoligies from Mr.D, and thank you for your response. I assure you no unsult was intended! We enjoy visiting Pasty Central daily,a great escape from the otherwise dreary landscape of G.R. God has Blessed US with Michigan.

Remember catching a 33 1/2" northern pike on Otter Lake (Elo Michigan). Biggest fish that I had ever caught on the ice!
