Charlie,
Just listened to the story of how you came to Stillwaters in Claumet! I loved it. I am new to computers and will enjoy your website.
My Uncle John Sustarich lived at Stillwaters until he died. I was born in Calumet and visited there this past summer with my parents. My Dad worked in the copper mines for C&H. He loved the Quincy mine tour he and his friend took my kids on the tour. We used to live on Calumet Ave.
I am letting everyone we know about your site its very entertaining to say the least.
Thanks again,
and keep up the great work, Stillwaters loooked great in the pics.

Just received my case pasties the other day. Let me just say, they are DELICIOUS!!! Living near Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, not many folks around here even know what a Pasty is. The look on their faces when they try one for the first time is priceless. Thank you for a little bit of "homestyle" food to keep me going through the winter, and keep up the good work.

Season's Greetings!
As I sit at my computer, the window shows the 40inch ground cover of pure white, fluffy snow. I wish I could share it with those less fortunate: ) Believe it or not, but here in Painesdale Michigan we have received 60+ inches since the 23rd of December. Yes +60 inches!! My son records weather for NOAA, so it's official.
Although the stuff makes for a fun drive to work some mornings, we wouldn't live any where else. It is truely "God's Country".

How do I go about sending pictures for pastycam?
I would like to give some photos for use. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

P.R. -

Simply put your picture into jpeg format as an email attachment to chopper@pasty.com. It's best to have only one picture per email, but you're welcome to send as many as you would like. Some of my personal favorites have come as attachments. Who knows? You might even be included in the next Pasty Cam calendar. By the way, there are still a few available through the pasty order form.

By Charlie - Onekama, MI on Sunday, December 23, 2001 - 12:17 pm:

Charlie
I bought a pasty from a local food chain, Oleson's Food Stores. The label showed a site of www.pastys.com. This place is based out of Quinnesec. Is this part of your operation? It was the beef/pork pasty with rudies. Hope you're not tied into this operation cuz it wasn't all that good.

<Charlie>: That is the URL for The Pasty Oven, which is also a USDA inspected operation, as Pasty Central is. I've personally never had any of their pasties, so can't offer any opinions. I do notice on their website that their pasties are made with cheese, an ingredient not found in Pasty Central pasties.

We certainly respect any pasty vendor who has gone to the trouble of becoming USDA inspected. It cost us a lot of time, effort and money to comply with the requirements, but it is absolutely necessary under Federal law in order to ship pasties legally. Before you order from any pasty source, be sure that they are USDA inspected, as Pasty Central is.

By Carole on Saturday, December 22, 2001 - 06:58 pm:

Received my pasties the other day but will wait until Christmas Eve day to have them. While enjoying the pasties will remember the wonderful two weeks we spent at Eagle Harbor in September but also watching, in disbelief, the Attack on America.

Happy Holiday to all the wonderful people who allow us to be part of their everyday lives in the Copper Country.

By Carol in southwest Michigan on Saturday, December 22, 2001 - 05:09 pm:

I got my pasty order yesterday and they were wonderful!! I gave my neighbors two of them and they raved about them. I talked to one of my nephews in southwest Michigan yesterday and told him that I was waiting for Fedex to deliver my pasties. He wasn't aware of your website, so I gave him your web site and now he's going to order some. My neighbors liked them so much that they are going to order some more!! It like being home. Keep up the good work!!

Received our pasty order in good condition. They were great! We served them to two first-time pasty eaters and now have two converts. We believe offering the opportunity to the residents to participate in this activity is a wonderful gift. Wishing you much success in the new year.

Dear Yoopers:
Greetings from Ohio. I have been vacationing in the U.P. since, well, in utero! I must say, to be able to log on to your site and instantly see the lift bridge and all of the breathtaking still photos of the area does my heart good. And having all the great shops available at the click of a mouse is even better! The pasties are fantastic, and it is so great to be able to eat them all year round! How I miss the U.P.! Thanks again for your wonderful website.

Thank you for your reply to my problem with Vollwerth's order page. You were right, it wasn't their website with the problem, we had to make some adjustments in our control panel re secure sites. Got my order in today. Wishing you and your staff many blessings during the holiday season and another year of success.

Mrs. Alberta Puhek Beyers,

I am married to a Marcia Puhek; her father, Anton/Anthony John Puhek was born in Calumet, Mi
in 1903. He liked pasties.

By Ellen, Florida on Sunday, December 16, 2001 - 11:38 pm:

Hi,saw your Vollwerth's ad when checking out the PastyCam, and tried to order a gift box, but their order page isn't available. Sure was disappointed. I'll keep trying, hope it will work. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Sure it's available, please go to their secure order page by clicking here. Sometimes older browsers have a problem ordering things, especially AOL older browsers.

Thank you for all the great web cam shots!!!!!! And to those who are helping supply them! Its nice to see a little of what yousta be home.

Great web site! When I run into any other lost yosta-be Yoopers I'll be sure to tell them about y'all. I think they will enjoy your site too. Especially those of us who just can't seem to get the pasty recipe right.

Hi Charlie and staff at Stillwaters:

My pasties and Pasty Cam calendar arrived as expected in the real Northern California. They were in great shape, and of course we promptly heated and ate two of them for dinner, after a long day of shopping on the coast 50 miles away.
What a treat it was, the pasties are as good as my mother used to bake for us those many years ago.
It is such fun reading the e-mail and enjoying the beautiful pictures you folks provide at Pasty Cam. Keep up the good work!! Many thanks to you

A transplanted Youpper.

Hello Michiganders,
Oh how I miss the SNOW, yes I said it...I MISS THE SNOW. Out here in Virginia I find it hard to get into the Christmas season as the weather is still in the upper 60s/Lower 70s. Salvation is around the corner as I will make my journey up to Newberry in January to see my parents, of course there are a few stops in troll-land(Lower Penninsula) to make first. All is good for soon a taste of home will be at my doorstop. I would like to wish all fellow Michiganders (native and those removed) a happy and healthy Holiday season.

Hi to all you Copper Country people:
Received the pastys that we ordered today. What a surprise that the box was packed with copies of the Daily Mining Gazette. Born in Calumet but raised in the Detroit area my parents always returned to the Hancock/Calumet area every year and I liked the idea of using the paper. It sure brought memories of my youth. Hope to one day return and help make pastys myself.

By Paul Spurr/Ft. Wayne, IN. on Thursday, December 6, 2001 - 01:50 pm:

I just happened across your site today and I think it is wonderful. I listened to the Real Audio talk that was given at the Summit. I was born in Calumet, MI in 1940 and left this area at age 5 when my father was transferred by JC Penney Co to another city. I have looked at many of the homepages that are part of Pasty Central. We make the trek to Calumet area about every other year. I commend you on this project for Stillwater. I plan to order some good pasties so my father (who is in a healthcare facility) may enjoy them too! Thanks

By Tony,MN on Thursday, December 6, 2001 - 12:27 pm:

The quality of the pictures in the calendar are excellent, If one were so inclined you could mat and frame them.

By Martha K., Pinckney, MI on Thursday, December 6, 2001 - 02:14 am:

Received my pasties and calendars today and am extremely pleased with both! The calendars are beautiful. I love the fact that there are "bonus pictures." I'm sure the people who'll be getting these from me for Christmas will be happy, too.

And the pasties are delicious. And they smell so wonderful as they are heating in the oven. My poor cat (whose on a diet now) kept heading into the kitchen to sit by the stove.

Thanks for two jobs well done!

Looking forward to my order. I ordered an extra calender for my Mom. Poor thing, my Dad makes her live in Florida. YUK! They have been down 4 years now. We are the only ones who have not visited them yet. When we get our vacation, guess where we go????? It is not the sunny state of Florida! :) Gods Country!!!
