Hello all.Just got back from the Minnesota State fair.Grandma's pasties are delicious and the Vernor's on tap is the perfect compliment to a good meal.Stop on by and visit sandy and the gang.Otherwise,have a great Labor day weekend everyone.I am looking fwd. to being in ontonagon for the big Labor day festival.And maybe a day visit to Copper harbor if there is time.

My husband and I are looking forward to a vacation in the UP next year. We would like to plan a Fall trip to see all the beautiful colors. We are probably going to go camping but we are also considering maybe renting a cabin somewhere. We really don't like resort atmospheres tho and are looking for a cabin in more of a secluded/remote setting. We would like it to be a 2 bedroom one with a kitchen and indoor plumbing. If anyone knows of such a cabin please email me with any details.

This year Pasty Central has averaged around 2 million hits a month. Here in August, however, a lot of those hit makers are indeed in the U.P. on vacation. Why settle for the Pasty Cam when you can experience it in person?

We made our annual trek to the Copper Country in July and had a great time at the All Class HCH Reunion. However, I was disappointed to find when I arrived at Still Waters that the Pasty Shop has been moved to another location, and I was told that the building is not open to the public so we could not visit as we had hoped.

However, while we were greeted warmly and given a tour of the facility we learned that the residents are always looking for good reading material. So my brother Gus has since been back with books on Finland. He has also donated some copies of his own book that he has written, called "Copper Country Connections."

We were told that the Evergreen Restaurant had pasties, so we went there and found out that they only serve them on Wednesdays. So I suffered terribly in deprivation and had to wait until I got to the Kaleva Cafe in Hancock to have one of those tasty morsels that I had been craving since I left Milwaukee for the trip "home".

I love the Pasty Central and the Pasty Cam and all of the great opportunities at this web site. God bless Still Waters ... God bless Pasty Central ... and God bless the Copper Country!!

By the way, you can get hot Still Water's Pasty Central pasties most any time at Thurner Bakery on Fifth Street in Calumet, or Tamarack Inn in Copper Harbor. They are also available frozen from Econo Foods in Houghton.

We understand you arrived at Still Waters after the residents had finished their veggy peeling... which is also a sight to see. The final baking of the pasties is done over on Sixth Street in the Baroni's building, which houses our USDA approved kitchen... otherwise there is no way we could bake 12,000 to send to the Minnesota State Fair this month.

Maybe one of these days we will be able to build a complete, unified production/baking facility here on the Still Waters property (...anyone out there with a million bucks to spare?) In the meantime, we are grateful to the Baroni family for renting us space in their building. Please excuse our growing pains!

Two weeks from today, Aug 23, is the start of the Minnesota State Fair. Grandma and "elves" at Grandma's Pasties look forward to seeing you all there and presenting the 100,000th pasty to a lucky customer. At last our extreme heat has broken.
