Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here? I recently visited the old "Devil's Washtub" on the scenic route to and from Copper Harbor and I was telling the people we were with that we stopped one time and it was dry. We were able to walk right down in it.......well, needless to say they did not believe me. Has anyone else been there when it's been dry and also......more importantly.....does anyone have a picture of it dry.......please email me so I can prove I'm not crazy!!!!! :D

Last week on the PASTY Cam there was a picture of a deer on the golf course on Drummond Island. A friend at work visited there a few weeks ago, and spoke of a place that resembled a tundra with odd rock groupings.

I tried to find some information about this on the web, but did not have any luck. Is anyone familiar with this, and is there a website that I can go to for more information?

I would like to thank Charlie for mentioning the death of my wife and two daughters in February. They will be missed very much.
Thanks again, Charlie and Jon.

Thanks for a great site to visit.
My Mom and Dad were born and raised in the U.P. and Pasties were a special dinner for us.
Do they deliever to Canada?

By Lucy, TX on Friday, July 20, 2001 - 11:26 pm:

I am finally going home to visit next week in the U.P. Do you sell your pasties locally from Stillwaters, or just over the net? Sure would love to have some while I'm there!

Frozen pasties are available in the lobby freezer at Still Waters, also available frozen at Econo Foods in Houghton. If you would like them hot, try Thurner Bakery in Calumet or the Tamarack Restaurant in Copper Harbor

By Betty, Houston on Friday, July 20, 2001 - 11:25 pm:

This may be old news to the folks up there but I just found out today that the August issue of Gourmet magazine has a story about Copper Harbor and a recipe for pasties. The August issue hasn't arrived in Houston yet so I can't confirm this.

I am looking for the web site for Eagle River.
Anyone know anything about it?

SR: The Pasty Cam has more shots of Eagle River than any other website anywhere. That's because the most prolific photographer on the Cam over the years lives in Eagle River... and yours truly lives in Eagle River, from whence these words are being typed.

Just up the road is Eagle Harbor, which also has appeared frequently on the Pasty Cam. For more in depth coverage of that village see
George's Eagle Harbor Web.

I was born and raised in th U.P. and have never been to Copper Harbor or the surrounding area. I was amazed by this web site.

It's incredible !!!!

You have one of the best web sites I have ever seen. I build sites and this one I found to be one of the most informative, colorful, down to earth and creative that I have seen.

I can not say in words how much I enjoyed the site. I will let you know how my trip was.

Awesome site !!~

Hei hei, Charlie, Just wondering if any pastycam people will be at the Aura Jamboree this week-end?The preview will be at the L'Anse waterfront on Thursday evening, 7:00pm. This their 25th anniversary. Will be a dance on Friday, music all day Saturday and another dance on Saturday 8 -midnight. I realize it's not Keweenaw, but it is really a nice time. Been playing there with friends for three years.

Could someone let me know when the thimbleberries will be ripe for picking or some kind of time frame (probably in august) because I plan on coming up for a vacation in august. Thank you very much. Dan

Dan - You better make it early in August, because we figure the season will peak around the end of July

for the city of Hancock. It gives the name and occupation, and address of the people living there. It does not just have the Finnish names but all the population of Hancock back then.Check it
out and see if your ancestors are listed.

Yesterday was the wife-carrying contest in Finland. A Finnish couple won for the fourth year in a row. The prize? The wife's weight in free beer (the winning wife was 70 pounds).

Since the UP has a strong Finnish presence, sounds like a good St. Urho's tradition to start! Main Street Calumet would make a fine racecourse. And the winning couple wins the wife's weight in pasties!

Any takers?

By Renee in IL on Sunday, July 15, 2001 - 06:41 pm:

Does anyone know where I can get a detailed map(s) of the UP? One that shows not just the bigger towns but all the small towns and backroads too?? Also, how I might be able to get a phone book/yellow pages for the UP? Does each town have their own? Or are they done by area or one big one for the entire UP? Please email me direct with any info. Thanks!
Best wishes,
Renee in IL

I am looking for a school teacher with the surname, Gough, in Cheddar. He was featured in an American TV show a few years back because his DNA matched the remains of prehistoric man found in Cheddar. I have American Ancestors named Gough. I want to see if we are related.

Hi!
I have a relative admitted to Stillwater today. Is there a way I can get an Email message to them without going public? :):):)
Thanks

Yes, email me with the subject "Attn: (resident's name)", and I'll print it out pass it along. Most of the folks here at Still Waters think of email as a fancy Western Union telegram :o)

Hi,

I am looking for volunteers to record the Ahmeek Cemetery in Ahmeek,
Michigan. It would start at the beginning of August.
It would be recording burial information from the markers and writing
it down.
This information would then be
Alphabetized and submitted to
The local Keweenaw County
roots web. If you are able to help
Please call me or e-mail me.
Even one day would help out.
Alicia

What an amazing web site! You could spend hours on pasty.com and never run out of pictures and letters about the U.P.

Could you have some kind of regular updates from the Munising area, as you do for the Keweenaw?
