Two of my favorite months in the Keweenaw are April and October, mainly because of the rapid change experienced across this beautiful area. In the spring we have the sudden emergence of new life, from gray to green, all in a few short weeks. Then in October we see the reverse... flaming colors at the end of the growing season which too soon gives way to somber gray awaiting a blanket of white.

John Dee's website Snow Central will begin to heat up when that white blanket arrives. Our thanks to John for this neat comparison of a pleasant spot along the old railroad right-of-way.

Wow - what a difference! That's starting to happen down here now, too. I hate to see the color go.

Is that a Black and a Yellow on the trail?
They're the best dogs!!

The color is glorious and maybe we need the drab to fully appreciate the beauty. Nature has it's reasons. I too am looking forward to the winter scenes....everything taking its rest to prepare for the beauty of spring. Thanks again!

Wow, this brings back memories. I skiied this rail so many time as a kid, I lose count. Thanks for the memory!
