Have you ever noticed how a lot of oak trees hang on to their leaves over the winter? The birch trees all dropped theirs (see yesterday, which, by the way, was the new roadside facitlites at the Snow Thermometer on US 41).

Leave it to Steve Brimm to always capture the light, the color, and the mood of the Keweenaw.

Great Photograph! I look forward to going up to the U.P. when I get a chance. Definately Calander material Steve. Dolores, I'm guessing a very small aperture for the depth of field, a little fill flash to light up the foreground, and a steady hand or tripod.

By Matt Behrens - GR, MI on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 - 08:52 am:

Any chance we can get a HI-RES copy of this picture? It would make my desktop for sure! No one would believe that this is the UP!

Excellent shot. Keep up the good work.

By Kailee, MSU on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 - 04:11 pm:

how did you capture the light like that, Steve?
Are you a professional photographer...if not I think you have found a new career.

By Robin, MI on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 - 04:52 pm:

That's right, Don. It's at Great Sand Bay.

My wife and I flew up there this summer. She was amazed seeing Lake Superior. She is from Texas and never saw the Great Lakes before. That picture is making me homesick.
