Recently I've been excited about my email each morning, as we are receiving lots of neat scenes from all over the U.P. I can hardly wait to see what each new day brings... It's just been so busy these days at Pasty Central that we are often not able to publish the Cam until evening hours. All day I've been looking forward to sharing this shot from Steve Brimm, and the note on which it was attached:

"People always think photographers have to go to exotic places to get images... they're right, I had to stand on the throne to get this one"

Spoken like a true yooper :o) I wonder what you might be missing out your bathroom window?

Great shot, Steve! Now what I want to know is how did you get the sun(squeezing between 2 icicles) in focus(or so it appears) whilst the white pine blurs.
The cinematic illusion of a master magician, I suspect. Couldn't this one even double as a Sci-Fi screen-saver? Say... the silver network cables by which this lavatory light shines?
So it's true. She did come in through the bathroom window!

Best "potty" shot I've seen!

By Steve Brimm Lake Superior on Wednesday, February 7, 2001 - 10:00 am:

Jeff, the sharpness of the sun is an illusion. A starburst from the sun appears by using a very small aperture , especially when placed partially behind another object. It is those rays rapping around the icicles that are in focus, not the sun itself. So… no magic here, just science. This was actually shot as a vertical and I cropped a horizontal from it as that seems to be what works on the Pasty cam.

Cheers,

Steve
