I think Kassy Kallio has captured the meaning of fall in her photos here today. She starts out with one of the prettiest autumn scenes I've seen and continues with the work part of all those fallen leaves.

That is Kassy's brother in the second photo, making leaf piles for his nephew and nieces to enjoy. The little raker in photo number three is Kassy's youngest, learning that work comes before play. It's good to see that even at a young age; he sees the value of doing a good job, with his eye on the reward later of getting to play in the leaf piles.

The remaining photos are wonderful examples of the joy of being a kid. Kassy managed to capture the fun of fall in each of these shots. Her son especially, jumps in with abandon and joy. You just can't help but smile from ear to ear looking at the fun exploding here.

Thanks, Kassy, for sharing the beauty and the joy that autumn brings around each year.

Great pics, thanks for sharing. Don't you wish that fall would last as long as winter?

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 07:34 am:

Colorful fun!

More gorgeous and fun autumn pictures. How I miss
the days of jumping in the leaves :-(

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 08:37 am:

Good to see people doing it the old fashioned way - raking - rather than using the leaf blowers. More exercise with raking and a lot less NOISE. Do understand the time and work factors tho!

The picture of the barn is gorgeous!

Piles of leaves sure do make youngsters happy. I have a simple coarse of action concerning the leaves of fall. I leave 'em where they fall.

DEB: why do you have to miss it? ....:O)....go for it.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 12:40 pm:

I dare you...:O)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 01:15 pm:

Lol, mickill. Honestly, we just don't
even get enough leaves to have to rake. I
miss that too, as dumb as that may sound.

By Kathyrn Laughlin (Kathyl) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 01:49 pm:

Hi
When I saw the first picture, I was thinking how pretty the red groundcover was, a nice contrast to the yellow leaves in the tree. Then I realized that those were leaves that needed raking.

Jbuck, I don't think leaf blowers work better than raking. My mom has a leaf-sucker, which vaccums up the leaves and grinds them up. It is noisier, and heavy to haul around, but she has fewer bags to haul to the landfill (you aren't supposed to burn leaves where she lives).

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 03:25 pm:

I admit i do use a leaf vacuum at times, but the ground up leaves go to my compost bin, where they break down faster than the ones that are raked.

DEB: O.K...... maybe this winter get out and make a snow fort? :O)

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 08:01 pm:

Janie, we need more Kipp pictures!

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 08:21 pm:

More beautiful Autumn colors! Keep them coming.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 - 09:32 pm:

We've done that, Mickill. We've even made a snow
hill for the kids to slide down in our back yard.
But I'd rather jump in a leaf pile :-)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, October 17, 2014 - 06:28 am:

jbuck...Kipp comes home with us on next Saturday, the 25th, more pictures will come then as well!! He really is adorable and has an out going personality! :)

DEB:...as a kid we had one in our backyard that had turns in it til we ended up in the alley. lots of fun. :O)then some winters we had an ice rink in the yard, too.
