Good morning from MN!! It's a balmy 31 degrees here today. Afraid it's not gonna stay, though. The bottom's gonna fall out some time later this evening! Oh well, it IS winter in Minnesota!!

Have a great day!

Why did my post, post twice? I haven't a clue. Sorry about that. Can you remove it Charlie? Thanks! Sorry to cause you any extra work :-(

Hungry Deb; after two birds this morning are we?? ;-)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 08:18 am:

A really balmy temp out my backdoor this morning, Deb, 44F. T-storms predicted for tonight. Weird weather, but I'm not complaining.:)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 08:21 am:

I am hungry, Capt, lol. Having some waffles with strawberries this morning. Mmmmm!!!

Great snow pictures today. Love the Lake of the Clouds one and Fun in the Snow!!

Have a great day!

By Richard Wieber (Flarich) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 08:38 am:

Gee, I feel left out. We don't have any of those 30 degree temps. Today is golf day and we will have to put up with mid to high 70s and a whole bunch of sun. Sure miss busting my butt shoveling snow of the roof and out of the driveway. You guys sure are lucky!!!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 08:40 am:

Somehow I'm detecting a bit of sarcasm there, Richard!! lol. I actually do miss the snow; these 80 degree days here in January are for the birds.....

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 09:52 am:

Good Morning. Leave it to Michigan's ever changing weather to put us on a roller coaster, LOL. After frigid conditions last week, we could approach record high temperatures today and tomorrow. I woke up early this morning to heavy rain followed by thunderstorms here in mid-Michigan this morning. And then we go back down towards the frigid zone again on Thursday. Whee! The Tri-Cities area already has some flooded streets, with more expected as the day goes on.

What were these little buildings used for that the two boys are standing on.I asked about it before when the same picture was on but never got an answer. I thought maybe they were for husbands that were bad.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 10:00 am:

I got a bird today of another sort...while doing chores this morning a Robin was sitting in a nearby tree chirping. Maybe a early spring?

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 10:02 am:

Oh and right now it's 53 degrees here, tomorrow 4-6 in. of snow expected........

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 10:20 am:

Janie, some of the most unpredictable weather we encountered in any state we often drove through was Iowa. Got caught in a snowstorm one time in Sioux City in April!

By Diana P. (Diana) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 11:40 am:

Zube, looking back at the Cam Notes from Jan. 29, 2006, I think the consensus was that the small building the two boys were standing on was an outhouse. Your idea is interesting, though! :-)

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 03:22 pm:

That is a lot of outhouses, must be a pub nearby.

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 04:20 pm:

Got rained on today in Ontonagon. Good thing we had the roofs shoveled yesterday. It's a very, wet, heavy snow. Yooper Eddie, who shoveled our roofs, didn't have a need for a ladder coming down off the roof, he just jumped into a snow pile. Wish I could have taken a picture. I will, next time.

Temps are going down to "normal" tonight and more snow coming. The snowmobilers look like "cluster flies" coming into Ontonagon. :)

I'm looking for information on where the boats used to unload
coal around here in the Dollar Bay & Lake Linden area. I
remember my parents talking about it a little but other than that
have nothing to go on. Can anyone possibly be of any help to
me??
