There's no doubt here UP North, that spring is finally here, even though the temps haven't always been the warmest, the birds are back and in a full array of colors. Starting with a bright orange Baltimore Oriole, captured by Brenda Leigh on her feeder, filled with the same color nectar as the colorful bird. It seems to be striking a pose for the camera, showing off it's beautiful colors. Then Brenda snapped a shot that shows us that our little feathered friends have learned how to share, since they're all congregated on the feeding platform together, showing off more vivid colors.

Donna MacIntosh gets into the birding mix here, with a brilliant, blue Indigo Bunting. That's a hue I've not often seen flying around UP here, so it's always a nice catch when you grab a photo like this. The next shot is a good one too, stopping a male ruby-throated hummingbird as it hovers among the feeders at Donna's Bird Diner.

Our final bird photo today, comes from Bill Haller, who seems to have captured a shy Evening Grosbeak, turning away from the camera, but at the same time giving us a full view of the yellow, white and black markings that color its feathers. So there you go folks... the proof that spring is definitely here... Enjoy!

Speaking of birds, I have finally had a look at the woodpecker that I have been hearing in my backyard. It's a Downy Woodpecker; might be a female because I didn't see any red on its head. Thare are some dead ash trees behind me and the woodpecker seems to be vying for a spot on one of them with a chubby nuthatch or something similar. Last summer I spied a white bird in the trees only to discover that it was a cockatiel that must have escaped. Don't know if it ever found its way home. Damp and 55 degrees in Lansing with a 40% chance of rain. That rain will keep me and my daughter from doing our craft show today as we are outside vendors. Oh, well, it's pretty comfy here with my cat Bagheera purring on my lap. Have a super long weekend all.

Colorful birds are God's way of making up for those long months of just gray and white.

Oh my!! Great pictures!! My husband and I love bird watching. We've seen all of those out here except for the evening grosbeak. We have feeders all over our yard and could send in lots of pictures. Oh yeah, we live in Minnesota, lol.

Have a nice day everybody! Thanks for the great pictures this morning. It improves my mood!

Awesome photos folks!! Birds can be quite difficult to capture for a photo op, but Brenda, Donna, and Bill have done a wonderful job; thanks for sharing. I just wish we had that kind of colour here......
