Another month has come and gone, along with some of our friends and loved ones. We take this last day of June to quietly remember those we have lost:

Claire Cashell
Elsa Haataja
Margaret Limback
Marie Stevens
Peter Torola
The servicemen and women who gave their all

As always, please feel free to post the name of someone you'd like to remember and reflect upon. Special thanks to Alan Abel for today's peaceful sunset.

Wonderful picture!

Remembering my mom's best friend of 75 years this month. Jean Judnich (her maiden name), grown and raised in Lake Linden playing softball with my mom, passed away on June 2nd. My mom was devastated as they were making plans for her visit this week and next for their class reunion. They always went together. She was going to spend time with my mom at her house and my mom was just so excited. They didn't find out until last week that she had passed. May she rest in peace.

Also remembering Laurel Zechlinski (llamamama) who passed away one year ago on June 10th. I feel like I have a guardian angel watching over me. We miss her so much:(

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 - 08:34 am:

On the last day of each month it often comes as a surprise to hear of the passing of folks associated with Pasty Central through the years. Claire Cashell was a lady well known by our Pasty.NET support staff, as a very active senior in the computer arena, always interested in learning more about the Internet as the years advanced. Margaret Limback was one of our pasty makers at Still Waters years ago as this online project got started. And finally, Peter Torola was well known to so many in the Copper Country. Our condolences to his wife Ellen, whose paintings grace many homes and businesses here in the Keweenaw.

I miss Laurel also. Would love to just once more hear the wonderful stories of Elmer and the other llamas. Never met her in person, but knew her so well. Her passing left a hole in my heart. Everytime I have blue berries I think of her.

Remembering my friend Laurel, still miss the morning discussions on all things wrong with work. The Countess of Chemicals had a never ending job keeping order. And remember, llamas are not food!

By Morning Glory (Lucylu) on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 - 03:58 pm:

Love the pictured rocks scene and scripture. Who did that? Lake Superior inspires me to sing praises to God for His beautiful creation every time I stand on her shores! God loved us so much he created the beauty we call earth, the trees, the lake, the sky... just for our pleasure... Thank you Lord for your goodness to us! It is so awesome to know that those who knew the Lord that have passed on are experiencing even greater wonders in heaven right now. I believe my mansion will be by a lake just like Superior! With lots of pine trees and flowers, (except a little warmer water). Thankfully we will one day join those who have passed and we will all worship the Most High God forever, and ever, and ever, and ever and ever...

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 - 05:35 pm:

Remembering Chuck Truscott. This is a sad day for those of us 'boatnerds' who visit Pasty. A dear and devoted friend from that site passed away this morning after a long battle with cancer. He grew up on Mackinaw Island and often contributed interesting tidbits from years past. Even though many of us never met him, we feel as if we knew him and he'll be greatly missed. Sail on in God's care, Chuck!

By Sheri (Sheri) on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 - 06:33 pm:

Remembering my great-grandmother Hilda Kytomaki Peterson who died 44 years ago on June 2. Every time I would visit her, she would give me a bright shiny dime.

He was 87 years old. Also a dear friend, Ray Pratt Sr. from Cornell, who passed away June 15, 2010. He was the bass man for the Country Wheels band. He bravely fought cancer for a year and a half.
