These are recent pictures of the Munising Falls by Aladino Mandoli. Looking at that icy pillar, makes me wonder how long it will actually take to thaw out completely and have just running water rushing over these walls of rock again. The cold temperatures the last few days will help to keep it frozen a bit longer, but once that sun hits the column of ice and the warm temps come back, it'll be history. Besides, rain is in today’s forecast here in the U.P.

Awesome! brrrr! The second photo looks like a tree trunk with extended roots.

Our apologies if you stopped by the Pasty Cam yesterday and didn't find an update. It wasn't until a few minutes before midnight that we posted Friday's picture by Neil Harri. We haven't missed even one, out of the last 4,410 days in bringing you something to see from the U.P., though yesterday that streak almost ended. A lot of behind the scenes work as we conclude Pasty.NET's "Fiber-to-the-Home" application this weekend. Thanks to all who provided such an *outpouring* of letters of support for this effort. (The middle photo above made me think of that :o)

saw this up close and personal last winter! nice shots aladino. If you continue on the road past munising falls out to sand point you can see the ice formations out on grand island too. good stuff. wonder how they're hanging on with all the warm weather this spring? anyone?

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Saturday, March 27, 2010 - 08:07 am:

Amazing how even waterfalls can completely freeze.

I spent yesterday cruising along the north shore of the Keweenaw. It is melted along the lakeshore, but it's also COLD!!! Saw some cool things like the above pics...AMAZING stuff! We had lunch at the Mariner North...fabulous as always!

I spent the day with a dear friend, who is a volunteer for the Copper Country Humane Society! I told her I do try to post daily to vote for CCHS on Pasty AND, it's thanks to TEAM PASTY that CCHS is moving up as much as they are! ( my humble opinion, of course!)

She told me she was there the night they got the call telling them they won $1000.00!! She said "There was HIGH-FIVING going on, and the JOY was so wonderful....I wish you were there" and she also said to "Please pass my/our thanks on to for all the votes"....AND she donates to Best Friends Animal Society as well, and said her last donation included a note "Hi, I'm a volunteer with CCHS, and we are approaching your second place (in voting Animal Rescue)...I hope if we don't win, YOU do!"

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing. Looks as though a herd has made their way around the column in the first picture! Lots of visitors came through there. I do enjoy the various forms ice is sculpted into by winter weather.

Pictures 2 and 3 remind me grocery shopping last night in the dairy section was something new to me, rootbeer milk in quart size containers.

My husband proposed to me behind the falls when they looked just like this. It was a beautiful, sunny day and our marriage has been the same. That was almost 25 years ago. Thanks for the beautiful picture.
