I remember this group like it was last week. But it was actually 10 years ago that we snapped a shot of the photographer grabbing the Calumet High School Class of '58. They met again recently for their 50th reunion, and here is the evidence.

I realize most of these folks are probably still on vacation, but it would be interesting to hear from any of the class members who posed at both the 40th and the 50th here in Pasty Land.

I wonder if there are any Finns in that group? What are the odds?

My Grandpa was the Houghton class of 38 so thats 70 years now, he didn't go to his 50th since he said he always saw those who were still alive anyway he didn't need to go.

One problem with the small towns around here is that a lot of the local residents don't attend reunions like they could because they see their classmates around town every day. So the best turnouts are the out of town/state classmates who don't see each other much. Not very thoughtful of some people. Had my 50th reunion a couple years ago and all there was was a bunch of "old" people. :o>)

Just for the record Gail Ongie took the picture (and did an excellant job I must say). Gotta give credit where credit is due! Thanks Gail!

My class from Royal Oak Dondero 1961 is so reunion crazy that we have one every second Wednsday of the month. Some of the class have met on Christmas Eve since 1961 with out a year off. Now that is dedication. So we have grown old with each other and not been surprised about how old we look. Years ago everyone had a job that was above average, now they have retired from everyday jobs. Times have changed. No one is trying to impress anyone else. I look forward to the meetings.

Speaking of class reunions...I dug out my group picture from my 10 year reunion (Ontonagon) in 1986 and the photo was done by Dan Urbanski Silver Image Studio. How cool is that? We had our reunion that year at Paul's Supper Club in Silver City.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Thursday, August 7, 2008 - 01:08 pm:

Here in Mishawaka, IN we have a reunion every first Wednesday of the month. It starts about 10:30 am with lunch at 12:15 pm and entertainment following. This has been going on for over ten years now. During the winter Mishawaka High School Alumni meetings are held in Flordia, Alabama, and Arizona. Usually in March and sometimes on the first Wednesday. We have thousands of members, can't recall the number right now. I now can go every month if I wish, since retirement the end of May.
We still have our class of '61 reunion every 5 years, as do most classes. It good to see all of the alumni of MHS turn out.

Aw Mikie,
Your new profile pic shows my favorite T-Shirt,
the 25th anniversary of CW Hog. (Cooperative Wilderness Handicapped Outdoor group of Idaho State University). What the folks can't see is the classy Hog in tails and top hat on the front.
You are a special fellow there Mikie!

Hello to Clarence. He was one of my bosses when I worked at UPPCO.

By Yvonne Fisher (Cfish) on Thursday, August 7, 2008 - 09:22 pm:

Laurie,
What was or is your name so that I can give him your greetings??

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, August 11, 2008 - 10:47 pm:

Mikie, You let Mary put that picture that I took in your profile! Way to go!!!!!!! It's such a very becoming picture of you.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Monday, August 11, 2008 - 10:55 pm:

Deb, Dani put a flattering picture of me on my facebook site. Hadn't shaved yet, and was chasing the boys with my sword. Sure had fun with you guys and the rest at St. Ignace. If only the Indians hadn't scalped me I would have had the perfect vacation. Finally made a little off them, twelve bucks so I shouldn't complain. You, Bob, and my pal Harry all share the same birthday.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, August 11, 2008 - 11:06 pm:

It was great being with you too Mikie. I felt like I'd known you my whole life.

Don't forget Kathi J has a b'day on that day also and a girl I graduated from high school with, Karen Mansell, shares my b'day.
