Today's first retro pic must have been one of the first shots of the Mountain Lodge near Copper Harbor to appear on the web.

Meanwhile back in Calumet, what a pleasure to have lunch at the Hut yesterday. John Gervais and his crew have done a nice job getting it open again after the long hard winter.

Time to write some more report card comments. Looking forward
to heading UP for a few weeks, but not til later in the month.
School ends here on the 25th of June, but of course there are
meetings after that the next day.

Good morning all! I have hockey hangover! Quite a game.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 - 06:54 am:

Bummer about the hockey game. I hear we lost in triple overtime. :-( Well, I'm off to the salt mines....talk to you all later.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 - 07:41 am:

Good morning everybody! It was a late night, as some of us stayed up to watch the WHOLE hockey game!!! It's gonna be a long day! Goalie interference??? Yeah, right!!!!

Kosk, I can't believe how late school goes out there. This is the last day for the kids here, and the seniors were finished last week. Don't work too hard!!

Lake Linden is done Thursday, my little guy is all excited he is going downstate to spend time with his dad Saturday. Long round trip to the straits to meet half way in one day but he will have fun since he hasn't seen his dad since Thanksgiving. He doesn't want to leave the UP but misses his Dad.

Last nights game has left me with a difficult time getting motivated today. I was livid when the tying goal was in the last 35 seconds.

Mary, my prayers are with you and Kevin.

In northern WI the kids are in school until the 11th. One extra day do to a snow day.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 - 01:37 pm:

I am having trouble getting motivated as well, but I don't have an excuse as good as the hockey game....

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 - 01:39 pm:

Hockey hangover; tell me about it!! I watched the entire game and then had to get up at 5am this morning for work. Needless to say I'm dragging today. It was a great game, but the Wings definitely got the shaft on many of those calls. Kinda reminded me of watching a golden rodent (er, gopher) game with all the nit-picky calls going to detroit. Hopefully we can get them tomorrow night, because I fear a game 7........

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 - 08:47 pm:

well, I too stayed up until the am watching that baby...it was one of the best games I've seen in awhile, other than a few suspect calls. I would have loved to have seen the wings win last night, but now that its going to Pitt, I would rather see Pittsburg win so there is a game 7 in Detroit.

What a game that would be !!!!
I'm more of a hockey fan than a Red Wings fan, so a game 7 is a fans choice. I realize you Red Wings fans would just like to see the victory and get it over with

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 07:50 am:

You are right, better a victory so as not to cause a heart attack!! HUGE Wings fans in this house! The calls were more than suspect, and the non-calls on the opposing team were even worse.

I heard it's better for the winning team to win on the road as the opposing team's fans get rather unruly. This comes from a huge Wings fan down in the greater Metropolitan area of Detroit.
