We're taking a little jaunt to the eastern end of the U.P. today, with Mona Grigg, who takes us first to Grand Isle Lookout near Munising. I wouldn't mind being this gentleman in the photo, since it seems to be a peaceful spot where you can take in the view of Lake Superior and I'm assuming Grand Isle also. The picture "looks" like the definition of quiet.

Mona's remaining pictures today, don't look quiet at all. As a matter of fact, this trio of views, looks to be rather noisy with all that water rushing over the Tahquamenon Falls like that. You can't mistake the power of that root beer colored water, as it picks up speed, flowing wildly over the edge. Now that's some serious raging water, both coming over the falls and also down below as it churns and froths. Nature in its glory!

as soon as i saw that top picture of the grand island lookout in munising i knew what it was. been to that spot so many times. and, this summer will be my 4th trip to grand isle too! can't wait.

Those are some great pictures. The difference between the solitude of the first picture, and what you know to be the noise in the next 3 is so unmistakable. I hope to get there this summer on my way to the Copper Country from St. Ignace.

Hi
I've been to Tahquamenon Falls lots of times in the summer and a few times in the winter, but never during the spring. It looks like a substantially stronger flow than I've ever seen in person.

I took Grand Isle lookout to mean a lookout on the island, not a lookout showing the island.

We never get tired of waterfalls, great pictures.

What ever happened to the restaurant on the other side of the highway, at the entrance to the overlook parking lot?

Great pictures of the falls. We spent several days in September
there two years ago, and the water sure was not running over like
these pictures show. Loved the picture of the mighty Mack the
other day, it is now wall paper on my monitor. Being from Illinois,
we have only crossed the bridge twice, most of the time we sneak
into the UP by the back door. Thanks for a great site.

How beautiful. Last summer when we were at Tahquamenon Falls the water level was very low. It's great to see it back in it's glory. We can only come up north on vacations, so we really appreciate your photos. Thanks.
