In addition to the new silent moving review of this day in Pasty Cam history, you will notice the Ancestors link has been restored for those who have questions and comments about geneology.

Good Morning, Everyone from snowy mid-Michigan, where the schools are running low on snow days, so virtually all districts are in session, in spite of a Winter Storm Warning. Stay safe and warm, you all!

By RD, Iowa (Rdiowa) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 07:09 am:

When you go to the what's UP link below on the bottom of this page, the moving picture doesn't appear. But when you come by way of the Pasty Cam home page it does. What's UP with that?

By joanne sherick (Shedoesnails) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 07:13 am:

Thanks Charlie, for bringing back the ancestors page.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 10:00 am:

What a day already! So far a good 8" to 10" on the deck. And the Mississippi has disappeared in the curtain of snow blowing in from the west and down river. Very little traffic on Main Street and they should run the crawler on the tv of what IS open. And that isn't much. Woooeeee shades of '79! Hibernating some more.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 10:49 am:

Good Morning, I like the moving pictures Charlie.

By Tom (Tom) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 11:03 am:

The moving pictures are really nice. I hope this can continue.
South of the CC is getting dumped on with snow again. Illinois of all places is going to get hit with up to 12 inches near Peru. I wonder what Milledgeville will get? No word from there?
Here in Green Valley we will have bout 65F and sun.
Not to rub it in, of course.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 11:33 am:

Here in Cedar Rapids, Ia. snow totals are in the 10 - 11 in. range with 4 or 5 in. yet to come! It is snowing 2 in. an hour. I took a snow day off today from work just like the kids get another snow day from school.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 12:41 pm:

Tom, are you talking to me about Milledgeville, Il. You know there is one somewhere in Georgia. But here in Savanna, Il. 30 miles west of M'ville we've gotten at least 10/11" so far and it's still coming down to beat the band. I remember you're from down river somewhere aren't you? How do you know M'ville? Curious mind wants to know.

By John W (Jwahtola) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 12:53 pm:

Here in Hillsdale County Michigan we are getting freezing rain that is to turn to snow later today. This is after last Friday's 5.5 inches of snow and Monday's dense fog and Tuesday's thunderstorms and heavy rain so we are flooded and skating on thin ice at the same time. Mother nature has a strange since of humor.

Love that concept of the silent pictures!!

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 01:58 pm:

Lansing, MI, has a steady, heavy snow coming down. The roads are messy, but not really that slippery. The problem is more in the visibility. We've got a couple of inches so far, but they are predicting about 6" by the time it's done at 1:00 a.m. I'll be staying home to watch ballroom dancing on our public television station (WKAR Ch 23) tonight at 8:00. No need to go out if you don't have to. Be safe!

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 02:44 pm:

We've been getting a wet, heavy snow since about 8:30 a.m. I got to clean off my minivan at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, & when I go home at 3:15. Then it's on to our weekly church potluck. (We're Methodists, what can I say?) Then on to my 92 year old mom's to do my nightly task of getting her set up for the next day. After that comes the guilty pleasure of Diet Coke and watching Wife Swap, instead of American Idol, since a local woman will be on the former tonight.

By Norma in Midland (Normainmidland) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 06:44 pm:

It's still snowing in Midland. We have gotten about 7-9 inches so far and now they are saying it's going to snow until 1:00 AM. Oh boy! We have had a real winter. The kids will be very happy tomorrow, (I think...) Have a good night all, stay safe if you have to go out.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 07:42 pm:

No school tomorrow for me! We had 9" as of about an hour ago. Heavy, wet snow, falling so fast the road crews can't keep up with it on the main roads. It's been falling since 8:30 a.m., picking up around noon, and, like Norma said, it's forecast until 1 a.m. The potluck was cancelled and I couldn't make it to my mom's, so she didn't get her bowl of ice cream (which I have to serve). She's making due with prepackaged pudding for a snack.

By John W (Jwahtola) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 08:52 pm:

Hillsdale County is now white. The snow started for us about 3:30PM and we had about 2 inches by 6PM so our ice covered trees is now snow covered and pretty. There is a upside to all the bad weather.

By Helen in the U. P.! (Lahelo) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 08:59 pm:

All of you folks downstate can have the snow this time!! We get more than our share of SNOW!!!! Have fun.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 10:44 pm:

Well, mid-Michigan has been dumped on with this storms, unlike some others recently, that did not really materialize. We have what the Weather Service terms "near blizzard conditions", expecting another 2 to 6 inches tonight, for a storm total of 8 to 12 inches, with an isolated 15 inches in the Tri-City and northern Thumb areas. Needless to say, virtually all area schools are already closed for tomorrow. The news just said that the roads are so bad now, that even the snow plows have given up. Norma, we really have had a real winter in Midland this year! Three cheers for a Snow Day! With all of the blowing and drifting, my youngest son is having a time keeping up with our driveway and sidewalks, plus those of 3 neighbors, spread out on our block. Oh, to be that young again!

Marsha, I'm sorry you couldn't help your mom tonight. I'm really glad that she has a backup plan, so that she still can have an evening snack. And, I'm glad you have a Snow Day, too!

I hope everyone is managing to stay inside, all nice and snug and warm, with hot chocolate, or something. Umm, maybe even making some homemade bread tomorrow would be good! The roads are pretty bad, from the sound of it, so staying inside for a good while sounds like a good plan to me!

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - 11:30 pm:

Good evening, all.

We got about 8 inches of new snow today. Took me an hour and
twenty five minutes to make the drive home to Muskegon from
Grand Rapids, but everyone drove like ladies and gentlemen and
I didn't see a single car in the ditch once I cleared the GR metro
area.

Only sucked one small log and a chunk of snow fence wire into
the blower this eve, so it could have been worse.

It's super pretty out there this eve; snow covering the ground in
soft forms, snow on all the branches. It's quiet out on the big
lake. Calm black water out past the ice walls.

Sleep well, all.
