By Susan Caryl (Gilbsulmum) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 06:53 am:

I would like to honor my mother who died the 8th of this month...I'll miss her always but at least she is with Dad, who she never got over losing 22 years ago. I was lucky to have two such wonderful parents...they gave me the best childhood imaginable.

By Dennis Kemper (Denkem) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 06:54 am:

I would like to take this time to honor my brother, Mike, who was killed by a hit and run driver in Milwaukee on June 8th, while returning to work from a break on his motor scooter. He was hit from behind, and the driver kept going. There are quite a few leads in the case, so it is a matter of time before the person responsible is brought to justice. I want you to know, Mike, that I miss you so much, and still can't believe you are gone. I love you Brother!!

By John Tregembo (Detlionsroar) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 07:30 am:

For my dear, caring, and loving sister. Michelle Tregembo Wilson. She will be missed by everyone she touched. I love you Michelle.

By Dave R. (Shutterbug) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 09:01 am:

Orval Korpela was a kind, compassionate person.
He always had a smile, a few kind words of encouragement when you needed them and the time to listen to you (and a loaf of home made bread).

He will be truly missed by those who knew him as will his recently departed wife, Nancy. I'm sure they are together again --- perhaps preparing an estate sale in Heaven!

By John Riesterer (Parrotjohn) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 09:41 am:

They are loved ones.Thank you Mr. Sands for your reminder.

By Jacobsville (Barb) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 10:17 am:

I would also like to pay tribute to Michelle Tregembo Wilson. She
was a wonderful person, and the editor of "The Beacon," which is
the publication for the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers
Association. Don and I have known her since the early 1980s when
GLLKA first got started. She and her husband Greg had a summer
home up in Bumbletown.

Michelle will be sorely missed by many!

If anyone knows Marc and Romana, please ask them to contact me. Tell them Marcia has my number.

Does anyone remember seeing her perform in the local production of "On Golden Pond" in the mid-80's? She was Ethel Thayer opposite the late Edwin (E. T.) Williams' Norman Thayer.

By Theresa R Brunk (Trb0013) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 03:51 pm:

To my Brother Michael C. Brunk. December 25, 2005. With your untimley death I learned "you can not Judge a Tree by One season."
"There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall. When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.
The second son said no - it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but one season in the tree's life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are - and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life - can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.
Don't judge a life by one difficult season. Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest."
I miss you everyday.

By Bonnie Hartman (Bonniehartman) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 05:05 pm:

In memory of my Dad, Edwin Erkkila, who died on May 31st of this year. He spent much of his life on Lake Superior as a Commercial Fisherman.
He knew the lake and could predict the weather way before a cold front or storm rolled in. He took with him the knowledge of the lake and where to catch Lake Trout. Also, he was an avid blueberry picker and had several "secret" patches! Love you, Dad! Bonnie

By Russell E. Emmons (Russemmons) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 05:19 pm:

Remembering my dear grandfather Emil Laplander of Woodside/Dollar Bay. He left us one day in June 1970. Born in Oulu Finland in the late 1880s, came to America as a young lad to find work and pursue the American dream. Married Mary Olson. They had 14 children, 5 are still with us.
Bless them all!

By Helen (Heleninhubbel) on Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 06:47 pm:

So sorry to hear of Mrs Hagen's passing .....she was a truly neat lady.

I am also saddened by Mr Sarazin's death. I met him when I cared for his brother Francis. Mr Sarazin was always kind and had something funny to tell me when I came. I am sure he will be missed by his family and friends.

And Mr Sands....I too thank you for listing the names of our brave young men who have died in service. It always brings tears to my eyes to see how many young men have paid with their life. My grandson and 3 of his friends have just recieved their orders.....Bagdad, a 15 month tour....sooooo long to not be able to see him. I pray I never have to read his name here at the end of any month .........

God Bless all........
