It was a dark and stormy night... The Patsy Cam took a midnight stroll eight years ago and ended up at Lake Bailey near Eagle Harbor. Did you know there is an Audubon sanctuary at Lake Bailey? The convention and visitors bureau says great views on the hiking trail. The 204-acre lake has an average depth of just 3-6 feet.

By Charles In Esky (Charlesinesky) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 12:02 pm:

It's a lovely day here in Esky too. I just took the dogs out to
"water the lawn," and i heard a very welcome sound. Singing
away in a birch across the street was our firsr robin of the
season. What a great sign of Spring he (or she?) is!

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 12:44 pm:

Good afternoon from Mishawaka, IN. Not so foggy now but very damp and dark out there. Have a great weekend.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 01:13 pm:

It's 47 & foggy here in mid-Michigan. I am in today with a sick son, so I couldn't go anywhere this afternoon, anyway.

I do love it when we get to hear the birds singing! I can't wait for our crocuses to come up, and the grass to start growing, and to get leaves on the trees again (early May around here, for the latter).

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 01:14 pm:

FYI;Don't read this page and go back without clicking on to the Audubon sanctuary link above. It will brighten up your day! Can't get much better of a day here in Corryton,TN.weather wise.I bet the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and Cades Cove are busy today, along with the streets of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 01:31 pm:

I also heard the birds this morning. Not too bad out, just a bit cloudy. Just house cleaning and laundry today anyway so I will survive without the sun.

By Richard Wieber (Dickingrayling) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 01:49 pm:

David You mentioned the parks and coves and the streets in that area. If they ARE busy one might as well stay home. I've seen parking lots move faster tha that.

Thanks to Japei for the Malmö link. My maternal grandmother was born there.

By Jacobsville (Barb) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 05:58 pm:

It IS wonderful to hear the birds. Not only the chicadees and
nuthatches, etc., but this morning I heard my first goose honking
of 2007! Spring is definitely here!

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 11:39 pm:

Speaking of birds 'speaking', the sand hill cranes have been going through Cornell for a couple weeks already. Boy, they're loud! Besides all the 'regular' ones at the feeders, too. Heard an owl in the hardwoods this afternoon. The little songbirds sure sound pretty. The ravens don't have much melody to their 'song'. :o) Snow is almost all gone here in Cornell. On some of my walks the past few days I stopped and listened to the 'music' that the melting snow makes in the ditches on it's way to the swamp, then on to the Escanaba River. It's just a nice sound.
