Good Morning from semi-frozen MN!

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 09:23 am:

Good Morning, it really is nice to warm up isn't it? The best way to describe my yard is soggy.

Good Morning from Ontonagon, it has been a beautiful weekend weather wise around here for everyone! Have a great Sunday!

Where is that beautiful courthouse?

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 10:28 am:

I think the courthouse is in Ontonagon.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 12:07 pm:

Hi! Our temperature got up to 45 yesterday here in mid-Michigan. About half of our snow melted off yesterday. My sons are eager to have nice, dry green grass now. We have rain in our weather forecast for early this week. It's nice to be able to go outside without snow boots for a change!

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 12:49 pm:

Good afternoon from Mishawaka, IN. It got up to 49 yesterday with tons of sun. Today is looking to be about the same. Nice to go out and not take 10 min. putting on all the clothes you need to stay warm.

Yes the old courthouse is in Ontonagon. I live there! In Ontonagon that is, not in the court house!

What a great old courthouse. Does anyone know when it was established?

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 04:57 pm:

It is sunny and 49, we walked to the park so the little guy could burn off some steam. Felt so good to have the sun on my face for a while

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 05:42 pm:

Please keep Judy/Thumbgardner and her family in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Her daughter and hubby are undergoing surgery tomorrow: hubby is receiving a kidney from their daughter.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS JUDY))))))))))). We're pulling for your wonderful family.

Good afternoon from southern michigan high today was above 50 degrees. Snow melting fast. The sunshine feels so nice. Can be out in shirt sleeves because of no wind. Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 06:11 pm:

Judy, We'll be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers definitely. How wonderful of your daughter to do this for her dad. You must be so proud of her.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 06:11 pm:

My thoughts & prayers are with you, Judy/Thumbgardner & your family for the speedy recovery of your daughter & her husband!

By AJ - WI (Ajinwi) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 07:25 pm:

My computer time did not "spring ahead." I changed it manually, although it's not big deal if it is an hour slow. But in three weeks when daylight saving time would normally occur, do you suppose the time will "spring ahead" then and I will have to manually set it again? I'm just curious. I read in the paper that you can manually change it but it said something about "unclicking daylight saving time" if I recall correctly. I didn't find "daylight saving time" to unclick. I just changed the time.

By Fran in GA (Francesinga) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 07:54 pm:

I enjoyed rhe Pictures from Romania, Japei. Very nice.

Judy/Thumbgardener, I'll keep your daughter and husband in my prayers.

Mary says: Ditto that from me too Judy/Thumbgardener....prayers are going out to your husband, daughter and you!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 11:47 pm:

Correction: Judy/Thumbgardener, I misread the earlier post. I was thinking it was your daughter & her husband. I'm sorry about that.

Judy, my thoughts & prayers are with you and your family for your husband's & your daughter's speedy recovery!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, March 12, 2007 - 12:00 am:

On setting computer times manually: if you have a box to check, telling your computer to set the date & time automatically, then it is done manually. But, it depends on whether or not it is in software or BIOS or something similar, as to whether it will try to change to daylight savings time at the old time (in three weeks), or not.

I set mine manually. I honestly am not sure whether I will have to reset it in three weeks or not because my computer has a setting that currently shows that it is set to Eastern Standard Time. I don't remember if that will switch to Eastern Daylight Time (another hour ahead) or not in three weeks. I guess I will be surprised. I know--if I had updated my system software before, then it could do it automatically. But, I have always set my time manually because I want it set 5 minutes fast so that alarms give me plenty of time to get to where I need to be on time. My husband was complaining that now his won't update automatically, & I just shook my head. On a Mac, at least, it is easy enough to set manually. If he can't figure it out, then it comes to me to fix anyway. So it's not a big deal, at least for us. (He never needs his to update automatically, anyway.)

Except, I think I might have just outsmarted it? I set it to Indianapolis, IN EST. And, unless they have changed their laws, they don't switch to Daylight Savings Time. I guess I could still be in for a surprise in three weeks? :-)

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 11:15 pm:

I just discovered that it did not help to set my location to Indianapolis. Indiana did change their laws so that the entire state of Indiana now observes Daylight Savings Time, as of 2006. Oh well, it will be a surprise in 3 weeks, whether or not I have to reset my computer's clock. :-)

Judy/Thumbgardener, I will keep your daughter and husband in my prayers.
Wish them all the best for a speedy recovery!
