Good morning, yep, love the sunshine too!
What is the "What's Up" picture? It looks like an explosion???

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 08:50 am:

Just read about it; Winter Carnival fireworks and they sure are beautiful!

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 08:53 am:

Good Morning, its a nice sunny day here in Pinckney. I love it when it shines off the snow.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 09:00 am:

Morning, sun is shining, but it's still only -9.

We were going to go to Grand Forks to visit our son in college because it's his birthday coming up, but thankfully he and his girlfriend had plans for Valentine's Day. Got us off the hook cuz I'm sure it's even colder there? Derek?????

By Nicky the spoon (Spoontroll) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 09:27 am:

mornin' bright and sunny and 12 here in shelby (trollville) township. Was up on Burt lake last weekend. Started with 10" of snow down on Friday....by Saturday night we had just shy of 30" down..awesome riding!!!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 09:50 am:

Good Morning! It's nice & sunny here, too. And, our morning low was +9, and today's high temp is supposed to be 23. I am always happier when the high temp will be above 20. :-) But, the colder weather comes back in Monday & Tuesday, and it will be another cold week. One of these days, spring will be around the corner, and our crocuses will peak up through the snow.

Those Winter Carnival fireworks pictures are beautiful. In case you did not know, this year's Winter Carnival pictures are tonight on Mt Ripley.

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. Woke up to LES and 9° this morning but now it's up to 15° and sunshine. Hope it continues to improve. I'm so happy the bridge cam is working!

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 10:53 am:

we're having a heat wave in Wisconsin by the lake..a balmy 3° this morning. Not sure about the wind chill..but obviously minus something :)

The sun is shining brightly :)

Fireworks must look pretty cool shining off the snow.

Thought I'd share this with you:

The birthplace of fireworks is generally recognized as China. It is said that a Chinese cook accidently mixed three common kitchen ingredients (black powder): Potassium nitrate or salt petre, sulphur and charcoal and lighted it. The result was colourful flames. The cook also noticed that if the mixture was burned when enclosed in the hollow of a bamboo shoot, there was a tremendous explosion. The first application of this technology was for entertainment. Slowly the theory took roots that this loud sound was perfect to chase away evil spirits and to celebrate weddings, victories in battles, eclipses of moon and religious ceremonies.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 11:47 am:

Uncle Chuck,

So glad to hear that you are well enough to travel. Enjoy your trip.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 12:23 pm:

Thanks Kosk, never felt bad though, I'm still young enough to hang and get into trouble with the kid! Just as long as we stay ticket free! lol

Don't let the uncle part fool ya, I've just got alot of niece's and nephew's, and that's how they refer to me, I'm still under 50, at least for a couple of more years-HA

Need to see that Big Mac bridge, yahoo!

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 12:44 pm:

Good afternoon from Mishawaka, IN. Glad the bridge cam is back up.
This morning the local NBC station did a piece on Mich Tech and the Snow Carnival. It was great to see the local guys talk about the UP.
We are celebrating our 43rd anniversary(was the 8th) and my birthday (on the 11th) this weekend. So I hope we don't get to much snow.
Have a great weekend.

Charlotte, Happy aniversary, and birthday, Precious and I have only been married for forty.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 03:21 pm:

Awww, Mikie, and you still call her "Precious", that sure is precious!

That Uncle Chuck sure has good luck! Wish I was going UP too! Don't "work" too hard and don't eat too many pasties!

Speaking of missing landmarks, I miss the McDonalds in downtown Houghton, near the Lift Bridge! That was really nicely decorated, with all of the copper accessories, etc.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 04:39 pm:

The only Mcdonalds in Houghton is across from Walmart, right? I can remember years ago when the "Ex" took Billy and Johnny camping to the Porkies and they craved McDonalds. The "Ex" said, let's head toward Houghton, we're bound to find one. Well it only took a 100 mile round trip but they got their fix. They were cold when they got back to camp but, the boys said it was the best meal that they had on the "camping out trip!" Now that's gotta be roughin' it!

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 04:42 pm:

that's where it is now...it used to be downtown

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 04:57 pm:

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 04:59 pm:

Ya know what really blows my mind? Why is the Subway in Ontonagon only open in the summer? Duh, don't the snowmobilers, cross country skiers and 4-wheelers like Subway in the winter too? Boy, oh, boy, what is wrong with this picture? I sure hope downtown Ontonagon doesn't suffer from the new bridge reroute, I'm sure they will.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 06:20 pm:

I saw that a couple years ago, I was with my kids and yelled "where is Mcdonalds?" They thought I lost my mind I never look for a McDonalds.

By derek tuoriniemi (Derek) on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 06:42 pm:
