I've said it before and I'll say it again, Joyce Tormala's walking partners have a pretty good life! Pasty-paws and Paco seem to be enjoying themselves on their snowy walk. At least those upraised tails indicate that they're happy to be out together enjoying the scenery. Joyce's second shot looks almost like she told kitty to stop there and pose with the backdrop of pine needles and brush, laden down with snow. But anyone who has a feline pet, knows you can't tell a cat to do anything! I guess she's just a photogenic tabby!

What adorable pictures!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, January 5, 2007 - 07:25 am:

How cute! They remind me of our dog and our one cat. Cats think they're the best and that's why they'll pose for you. LOL I think that they figure everybody wants to look at their beauty.

Thanks for the smile! I am chuckling as I see this pair of pets prancing away in front of the photographer... the cat out in the snow is just too cute!

Makes me think of the saying: Dogs have masters, cats have staff!

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Friday, January 5, 2007 - 10:43 am:

How cool is that. Mine just tip-toe out the door when it's wet and have a problem. This guys are really "snow" bound.

Where exactly is the snow line these days? I am in Ann Arbor and it seems like we will has a snowless winter....

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Friday, January 5, 2007 - 01:38 pm:

We had snow in October, but I huess you are right that was still fall.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Friday, January 5, 2007 - 01:52 pm:

Do you know why cats are smarter than dogs? You can't get eight cats to pull a sled through the snow! Hee, Hee!

Walker (Walker_bc):
"Where exactly is the snow line these days?"

Here ya go:
1. Current UP Snow depth (Virtually nil SE of a line from Grand Marais to Iron Mountain.)
2. Current eastern UP & northern LP Snow depth (Nothin' at all!)

By Rose Fields (Rosemothernatur) on Sunday, January 7, 2007 - 07:03 pm:

Great Photo! The Snow Cat looks just like my late cat Boots except that the stripe down her face was crooked and all on one side! How did you get your cat to pose in the snow? Boots always walked away when she saw me with the camera. Boots also had a best friend, my Collie!

By J.T. Toivola (Joyce) on Thursday, January 11, 2007 - 03:30 am:

Thanks! Where Paco is,there he is also. I use the same tricks with the cats as I did when trying to snap my kids when they were small-snorting,the classic motor sounds, whistling, playing the fool. I don't have to tell kitty to watch the birdie. I gently toss rocks or snowballs to draw his attention. He excels in the long pounce, and I've missed the good stuff many a time because I wasn't ready.
Paco has groomed, wrestled and slept with this cat for 2 years now. I just lead the troops and maneuver the scoops.

Washtenaw County. :)

But it's gone now. :(
