Tomorrow is PastyFest 2006, with a parade at 10 am in downtown Calumet and free pasties to the first 500 visitors to the Pasty Central booth in Agassiz Park, starting at noon. There will be music and games in the park and we will also show off our almost-completed pasty-making kitchen, Pasty Central Express, from 3-7 pm. It is right behind The Hut Inn in Kearsarge. Join us!

Be safe and have fun to all of you heading to the UP. Had a great time in Brimley last wknd, not the CC but it will have to do until Aug. FYI to Pasty Central, Bridge Cam still shows Jun. 21. Enjoy the day & wknd everyone.

Sorry to be missing Pasty Fest. We will be UP for the Aura Jamboree the weekend of July 15. If gas were not so high, I might have come UP for both.

So, what's everones plan for the 4th???

Dr. Nat and I are probably going to keep it quiet for the most part; stay at home except for taking our car to the weekly Saturday Night Cruise-In at our local Kroger. And of course, pine over the fact we won't be in the Keweenaw for the 4th!!

By BJmilford (Bjmilford) on Friday, June 30, 2006 - 12:40 pm:

bill d-howellmi - if you ever get in to Milford try the pasties at the Milford Bakery. One of the owners is Mrs Aiitama. She got the recipe from her mother-in-law who was from Yellow Jacket. You may want to call ahead. They go quite fast. It will tide you over until you can get the the UP

With isolated or scattered thunderstorms in the forecast for Calumet all day Saturday (from 1:00AM EST 'til sunset), what's da backup plan for Pasty Fest?

By Danbury (Danbury) on Friday, June 30, 2006 - 04:22 pm:

This world cup thing sure has it's positive sides - went into town around 0500 pm (rushhour! friday shopping stress!) and it was as empty and peaceful as the quietest sunday morning (no traffic and no crowds), except that the stores were open. That lasted until I was informed of the outcome of the game by honking of what seems to be about every car and truck horn around, some time around 0700. A matter of information that still continues now, three and a half hours later.
Well, come the next game, the streets will be empty again ...
