Eight years ago, our Pasty Cam photographer caught this shot -- the sign leads to one of the many small cemeteries that populate the Copper Country. Several have been adopted in recent years, with volunteers fixing fences, cutting down the overgrowth, and caring for what serve as both final resting places and historical sites. As for the photo, perhaps someone was thinking "boot hill?"

Just a week and a day to PastyFest and the Pasty Central Express open house (5 pm on July 1) in Kearsarge.

Morning All.
Ah so close, yet... Will be at Bay Mills for a golf outing starting this weekend. Have to wait until Aug. to get to CC. At least I can breathe in the fresh breezes off lake Superior. That is a rich experience in itself (from yesterdays Gormfrog post). Enjoy the day everyone!!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 07:47 am:

I've never been to that cemetery. I'll have to
add it to my circle tour when I go up to the
Keweenaw to visit the cousins.

Just a week to go til I'm on the road to LP
Michigan and then on to the UP the next day.
I'll miss Pasty Cam and Pasty Cammers
present and past because I'll be Internetless
for the better part of two months, but I'll be
seeing these UP views and speaking with
Yoopers first hand.

Morning all! Eight hours til the weekend!

I started to ask if anyone could tell me what day we had the conversation about finding the Cliff Cemetary. Then I decided to look myself and it was easy to find: May 16. Just locate that day's posts and print it to have with you.

From Cliff Drive, you have to follow the trail into the woods until just before you get to the cliff, then turn left at a "T" and walk maybe another 20-30 yds. Once you find one headstone, the others seem to pop out of the woodwork.....

SPECIAL WEATHER REPORT FROM LAKE LINDEN

Snow in June...there is white stuff in the air and starting to cover the ground near the High School in Lake Linden, as the picture below illustrates. Unusual this time of year! :->
Snow in June?!!!

By upmama (Upmama) on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 12:49 pm:

For Kosk: you don't have to be without the Internet for your two months in the UP... stop occasionally at the local libraries and use their computers for free. Enjoy your visit!

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 04:58 pm:

Sean: the Shoreline is open this year. I'll be staying there the first week in July, sadly not longer.

By Karen (Kmr5os) on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 05:29 pm:

I'm with you, Ms Katie, one more week and I'm back! And even with a ton of stuff to do before we leave, I know the week will drag. But, I keep telling myself ... almost there, almost there, hang on, almost there.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 09:13 pm:

Margaret, Goodness is right!

By J.T. Toivola (Joyce) on Saturday, June 24, 2006 - 12:20 am:

Häh!!!???? What IS that stuff? It ain't so....it can't be snow! Tell me truly,I have to know!

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Saturday, June 24, 2006 - 03:09 pm:

Joyce,

It's actually just what "Liz B (Lizidaho)" above said...it's my neighbor's Cottonwood tree making it's annual mess. It's a beautiful large shade tree, but messy year round. These floating fuzzballs are just ONE of the messes it makes...don't get me started. :-)

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, June 24, 2006 - 04:33 pm:

Oh, oh , Mary. I started a rumor
(unintentionally). I really believed it was snow.
Well, it COULD happen... I showed people
pictures of snow drifts in Ishpeming at the end
of March, so they thought sure..must be some
kind of place to live!

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Saturday, June 24, 2006 - 05:37 pm:

Oops...sorry to have mislead you there Kosk! I thought that smiley face would give it away as a joke!
