This time of year is known here in the Keweenaw for the blossoming of spring colors returning. Looking back in the archive we had several days that showcased beautiful blooms. Take a look back to 2005, where even though the morning was shrouded with a light fog, Joyce Tormala still found the beauty in the midst of the haze. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like mostly tulips and quite colorful ones at that.

Then in 2010, Ellie and Marv Hopf treated us to a bouquet of red tulips. Back then I thought they looked like poppies at first glance and still see the resemblance today. I think it's because they're opened wider and we're looking down at them. Pretty flowers.

Now here in 2017, Joe Kirkish brings us some more evidence of the color of spring here in Houghton, brightly colored, but certainly not flowers. Joe spotted the remains from a graduating Tech student a week or so ago, including a bike in the mix and all in one week. I know, I know, not exactly the kind of color we want to see, but at least Houghton has bright orange garbage bags to grace their streets on pickup day.

Since we’re already in a silly mood with the last photo, I figured we might as well keep it up and throw something in for the kids with today's video, "A scene from Lost in the Woods". I’m sure U.P. critters are excited that spring is finally... here!

Classic pix all around and that video is a hoot! What a pleasant way to start off the morning.

I decided to get in on the action to add some
color and planted geraniums in front of my house.

The deer loved'em.
They even left little "thank you" gifts.

In Joe K's picture, it looks like there's a little patch of snow on the porch roof. The last one in the Keweenaw for the season, perhaps(?)

I've watched this video a half-a-dozen times today, Toto.
