Over in Baraga, Donna MacIntosh is an avid bird feeder, as she enjoys watching the critters that come to dine. Her animal clientele is not the usual visitors though, as she gets Pileated Woodpeckers, who are normally skittish around people and stick to the woods for the most part. Check out the feeder Donna has there, it's filled with a homemade concoction of peanut butter and lard, with what looks like sunflower seeds in it, too. The woodpeckers just love it!

The turkeys in the second photo have been visiting her feeders since fall, so they're regulars there now, but certainly not your 'normal' bird feeder birds. This trio of turkeys seem to be having some type of discussion. Maybe they're taking a vote as to who is going to request more food from Donna.

And last, but not least is another regular visitor for her, a one eared squirrel. Speculation as to what happened to his missing ear is perhaps he got in a fight or who knows; maybe he was born special like that. Whatever the reason, it's really easy for Donna to pick him out as a regular when he stops by for dinner.

Yes indeed, Donna has a special touch when it comes to charming the critters. They must sense her caring and kind heart.

FOOTNOTE: Yesterday's shots from Chad Johnson, featuring Houghton X 2, were pretty interesting. If you missed them, just click here: Monday, December 28th, to take a look at them!

Nice pix! I think the turkeys are talk'n trash about that woodpecker's hair-do. And that squirrel looks like it's been around the block a few times.

Great pictures this morning. The pileated is high on my favorite birds list.

I love these pictures. We saw a few wild turkeys as we were driving
to the U.P. last week. There was a downy woodpecker drilling full
force at a tree behind my daughter's house in Ishpeming, and a
squirrel climbing the bird feeder outside of my father's window
provided him with plenty of entertainment. Lots of blue jays around
my daughter's place too.

It is apparent that someone said, "Squirrel, Squirrel, lend me your ear!" and he did. But then the party did not return it.

Critter pictures. We have many wild turkeys
running around out here. One day the field by our
house was full of swans and the next it was full
of turkeys. Love it!

Thank you! LOL...LOVE my critters...there were a
dozen turkeys coming in a couple of times a day, but
the snow seems to have slowed that process
down..haven't seen the pack in awhile...All the
woodpeckers do eat good. And often! Add mealy worms
to the recipe. And there are Downy and Hairy
Woodpeckers too. And One Ear has been hanging around
for awhile now...lol...LOVE my critters!!
