On Monday, we showed you some ice UP by Hunter's Point in Copper Harbor, that was taking awhile to melt. Today, just a few miles south of there, Joe Kirkish visits his cottage on Lake Superior, showing us his shoreline completely free of ice and not even a ripple off shore. What a perfectly peaceful scene here today, with the sun glistening on the calm water and the trees along the rocky shores really greening up now.

Joe even hung some laundry out to dry while there. I LOVE the smell of clothes dried outdoors and can only imagine how much better they must smell having been dried on the shores of Lake Superior. That reminds me of the sign that used to greet folks as they came to visit, talking about the fresh air here in the Copper Country. The Harbor Haus in Copper Harbor has a similar sign there now.

Spectacular images! Thank you, Joe! All three images have a surreal quality, especially "Glistening sunlight". Did you use any kind of filtration or image processing to achieve that effect?

I have almost the same two photos as the first ones, except in February during Winter Carnival. If I had to guess, I would say Joe used the high dynamic range (HDR) imaging feature on his camera to get those shots.

Congratulations to Joe for having survived and
thrived so long, now achieving a place in such
serenity and beauty.

I fondly remember the photography and film classes
I took at Tech with Joe Kirkish as the instructor.
I'll never forget "An Occurrence at Owl Creek
Bridge".

Thank you Professor Kirkish.

Hi
I also had some clothes on the clothesline yesterday, though the only scenic thing nearby was the lilac bush.

Beautiful views of the Lake Superior shoreline. It's been months since I've been to my cabin on Lake Huron.
